Luke Allen to address graduates for MSU Texas commencement

Graduating senior Luke Allen will deliver the commencement address at Midwestern State University’s graduation ceremony at 10 a.m. May 12 at Kay Yeager Coliseum. Allen will speak to the approximately 735 students who are candidates to earn their degrees this May.

Allen is earning a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a double major in political science and Spanish. He has accepted a dean’s fellowship at Washington University School of Law in St. Louis, Missouri.

In 2016, Allen received the Clark Scholar award, and in 2017, he was named the Hardin Scholar – MSU Texas’ two highest student awards. He also received the Prothro-Yeager Scholar Award for three years, the Outstanding Spanish Student Award for 2017, and the Outstanding Honors Student Award in 2017. He was named Outstanding Freshman, Sophomore, and Junior Man, and the 2017 Man of the Year while attending MSU Texas.

Allen participated in the Model United Nations Team that competed in New York the past three years, with this year’s team winning Outstanding Delegation Award. Allen has been a member of the Student Government Association and the Redwine Honors Program. He is also a member of MSU Texas’ nationally ranked cycling team, winning a bronze medal at the USA Cycling Collegiate Track Nationals in 2015. He volunteers at numerous community and athletic events.

A 2014 graduate of Wylie High School in Abilene, Texas, Allen is the son of Greg Allen and Michelle Allen of Abilene.
