The Wichita Falls Museum of Art at
MSU is throwing a party to celebrate its 50th birthday. Spring Fever will take
place from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday, April 22, inside and outside the museum. The
family-friendly free event will also celebrate Spring Fling, the beloved art
fair that the museum hosted from 1972-2002.
Activities for children include face
painting, clowns, a dunking booth, hands-on art projects, and other fun
activities assisted by members of the Junior League of Wichita Falls. The
Wichita Falls Art Association and the MSU Chapter of the Kappa Pi Art Honor
Society will offer artworks for sale by more than 20 artists in a variety of
media. Local musical groups will perform throughout the day at the Priddy
Pavilion, with the Jay Hollis Band closing out the celebration from 5-7 p.m.
Each April, the Museum Guild hosted
the arts and crafts fair Spring Fling on the museum grounds. “Spring Fling
Remembered,” an exhibition inside the museum, will feature high-quality art and
crafts that were purchased at Spring Flings of the past, including baskets,
ceramics, jewelry, art glass, and watercolors, as well as Spring Fling T-shirts,
posters, and memorabilia. The exhibition will remain on view through the
